Dec 21, 2016 /prREACH/ -- Yolanda Daigle, a 68 year old woman in Houston Texas is living a very full life again thanks to the expertise of Spine Surgeon Dr. Richard Francis. Daigle had a couple of accidents over 35 years ago which caused damage to her neck and back. After finding one doctor who did help provide temporary relief for a few years, the pain came back and actually got much, much worse. For the last 15 years Daigle suffered excruciating pain and was hardly able to walk, let alone live a relatively normal life with her family. She went to one doctor after another but none were able to help her to any significant degree and none of them properly diagnosed her scoliosis that had developed over the years.

After suffering from such constant discomfort and pain for so many years, Daigle reached the point where she started to believe she may never be free from her pain. This continual inability to move about and function normally affected virtually every aspect of Daigle’s life. There were so many things she simply could not do that most people just take for granted in their everyday lives. Eventually Daigle found Dr. Richard Francis, a highly recognized and renowned spine surgeon in Houston Texas who told her that he could fix her badly damaged neck and back. Those were the words that Daigle thought she would never hear and though she began to cry, she immediately told Dr. Francis to schedule the surgery required to correct her problems.

Dr. Richard Francis, Founder of Spine Associates in 2003 is a Fellowship Trained Spine Surgeon with a niche expertise in revision and reconstructive surgery. A Diplomat of the Intercollegiate Specialty Board in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery (UK), Dr. Francis has been practicing medicine for well over two decades. Dr. Francis has built a considerable reputation by maintaining a conservative approach to treating all spine conditions in both children and adults and has made it his goal to stay at the forefront of technology, yet maintain a personal connection with patients and their families. Dr. Francis is also one of few spine surgeons capable of performing surgeries on children as well as adults and prides himself as one of the first surgeons in the nation asked to perform the artificial disc replacement and to use robotic assistance in spine surgery.

After thoroughly examining and diagnosing Daigle, Dr. Francis determined she had multiple areas where long term damage had occurred including the development of scoliosis. Dr. Francis explained where all the major problems were and that she would need surgery to correct the damage done to her L2, L3, L4, L5 and S1 vertebrae as well as what would be needed to correct the scoliosis she now suffered from. Surgery was scheduled and Dr. Francis performed a 360 Back Surgery to repair the damaged vertebrae and inserted 2 rods to help improve the curvature of the spine caused from the scoliosis.

Daigle’s surgery went very well and after a couple months of physical therapy she was able to walk again virtually pain free. Following her 6-month checkup, Daigle was still pain free and was now able to do things she hadn’t been able to do for many years like play with her granddaughters outside and hold her newest granddaughter in her arms. About a year after her spine surgery, Daigle had neck surgery which also went extremely well. Only eight months after her back and neck surgery, Daigle and her husband went on their dream vacation in their RV for a month touring 13 states. They went to Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri and enjoyed walking the park the entire day. They also went to Yosemite National Park in California where they hiked up to Old Grizz, which is a very large sequoia tree. Daigle was now able to walk all through Yellowstone National Park with NO problems. Daigle is very thankful for Dr. Francis who she feels gave her back her life with her family.
