San Francisco, CA, Mar 22, 2020 /prREACH/ -- PickFu is happy to announce that it will be hosting a virtual town hall with FairVote to discuss how to improve U.S. elections through ranked-choice voting. This virtual town hall will take place on Facebook Live and YouTube Live on Wednesday, March 25, 2020, beginning at 11 a.m. Pacific time. The event is set up for anyone to watch the session live, ask questions and share comments and ideas.

Ranked-choice voting does not only apply to business ideas, but it can also apply to elected office.

PickFu's chief marketing officer, Kim Kohatsu, explained, "PickFu uses ranked-choice voting because we've found it's the fastest and fairest method to reflect respondent preferences. To win a PickFu poll, an idea (such as a logo design) must win a majority of votes. If no option receives a majority of first-place votes, the option with the fewest votes is eliminated. The votes for the eliminated options are then reassigned based on the respondents' next preferences.

In the context of elections, when voters have the option to rank candidates for office in order of choice, it helps elect a candidate that better reflects the majority of voters."

The PickFu event will cover the benefits of applying a ranked-choice voting system to the U.S. elections. "Ranked-choice voting promotes majority support, discourages negative campaigning and replaces low-turnout runoff elections," she said. "Often, candidates win elections without winning majority support. This means that most voters chose someone other than the winning candidate. Ranked-choice voting would help find out which of the top candidates has real majority support."
