Melbourne, Australia (December 9, 2013)— Last week, TropFest, the largest and most prestigious short film festival in Australia, announced its December finalists. One of the top 16 entries is a crowd-funded film entitled Sine, written and directed by independent filmmaker Adrian Cabrie.

Cabrie’s film making outfit, Truncated Pictures, ran a crowd funding campaign for the project at Pozible.com and exceeded its $3,000 goal on September 25. With help from 38 supporters, the film was funded and completed in time for the prestigious TropFest.

“We are so happy for the support – both emotional and financial— that we received while working on Sine. We worked with a group of talented people who donated their time and services to get the project off the ground and to complete it. We all love making movies and we’ll keep doing films even without a guaranteed audience because we believe good stories deserve to be told. We’re glad we found financial backers who feel the same way, ” said Cabrie.

If Cabrie wins the competition, he will receive a brand new car, film equipment, and a trip to Los Angeles, California where he will meet industry insiders.

“This is an exciting time for Adrian and we’re really happy for him. We supported him from the very beginning because we know how talented he is. Also, his personal projects have never interfered with his work at Melbourne Video Production. In our experience, allowing employees to pursue their passions outside of work also enhances their creativity and efficiency in the workplace,” remarked Mr. David Jenyns, director of MelbourneVideoProduction.com.au
