Nov 27, 2015 /prREACH/ -- Jacuzzi Hot Tubs of Portland serving Beaverton and Portland Oregon publishes “Three Ways to Live Healthier with Diabetes.”

“November has been proclaimed National Diabetes Month. The first step to living healthier with diabetes is to know the symptoms,” said Sue Rogers the company’s President.

“These include blurry vision, unusual fatigue, cuts and bruises that don’t go away easily, tingling or numbness in the hands and feet, pain in the hands and feet, hunger even when eating normally, constant thirst, urinating frequently. While any of these can be a symptom of other illnesses, or simply a common occurrence that comes and goes normally, they should be considered a reason to check with a doctor and make adjustments to the way a person lives,” continued Rogers. Here are three ways to live healthier with diabetes.

Keep Up with Eye Health - The first thing that comes to mind when a person learns they have diabetes is not usually their eyes. However, the eyes are one of the first things diabetes tends to harm. Get regular eye checkups to keep up with the changes and discuss ways to help prevent future damage to the eye with a good ophthalmologist.

Have Fun with Exercise - Exercise is a big part of controlling diabetes or preventing it from starting. The best way to make exercise a part of daily life is to not think of it as a chore. Instead of avoiding daily regimens, find ways to make exercise fun. There are plenty of things that can be enjoyable and actually provide a lot of exercise.

Take up something thrilling like rock climbing. For the nerdy set, take up geocaching. It involves a lot of walking and searching for clues. For those that prefer to be more mainstream, take a dance class or get really down to earth and play with the kids. Not only will playing with the kids help people stay fit, it will keep the younger members of the family healthy as they grow.

Get a Portland Hot Tub - Talk about mixing pleasure with improved health. Hot tubs are great additions to a home and make a perfect place for family and friends to gather. On top of the social benefits of a hot tub, a study by Phillip L. Hooper, MD., of the McKee Medical Center showed that soaking in a hot tub helped patients with Type II diabetes lower blood sugar just by soaking for 30 minutes a day every day. Not only did those patients lower their blood sugar and their A1C levels, they also lost weight.

To encourage local residents to check out the benefits of using a Jacuzzi Spa to help improve their overall health and well-being, Jacuzzi Hot Tub of Portland is providing free test soaks at their Portland Outlet Store and Beaverton showrooms. They do recommend however that people wanting to schedule their free 30-minute soak call them ahead of time at 503-277-2170 to reserve their spot.
