Capital Hot Tubs and Saunas serving Arlington and Fairfax, Virginia, and Rockville and Clarksburg, Maryland Supports National Diabetes Month
Patty Mahoney, of Capital Hot Tubs says that along with getting regular checkups with a physician, people can help prevent diabetes with some adjustments to their lifestyle. (Before starting any new diet, exercise or lifestyle program related to Diabetes, please check with your doctor first.)
Here are 3 ways to decrease blood sugar levels for a healthier lifestyle and reduced risk of diabetes.
Eat Smart – Avoid foods high in sugar, and also high in carbohydrates that convert into sugar. Good carbs like leafy greens and vegetables are an important part of a good diet, but starchy foods and sugary beverages should be avoided.
Give up Alcohol – Alcoholic beverages and mixers have a lot of sugar in them. Additionally, alcohol can cause problems with some medications. It isn’t just beer or sweet drinks that can be a problem for diabetics.
Alcohol that isn’t inherently sweet, can actually cause a drop in blood sugar known as hypoglycemia—disastrous when trying to control blood sugar levels, and/or taking medications for Type II diabetes. Drinking in moderation and keeping close track of blood sugar levels while consuming alcohol is a must, when drinking is desired.
De-Stress Daily – Stress is as deadly as diabetes, and can have an impact on diabetic health. Creating a peaceful place at home to get rid of stress is a great way to combat Type II diabetes. Adding a hot tub to the yard changes the atmosphere immediately, giving the entire household a place to relax and rejuvenate after a day of work, school, and chores.
Hot tubs are easy to install and take care of. They don’t take a lot of space, and unlike a regular bathtub, the temperature control makes it easy to keep them at the perfect temperature for as long as desired.
To encourage local residents to check out the benefits of using a hot tub to help improve their overall health and well-being, Capital Hot Tubs is providing free hot tub test soaks at all their showrooms. They do recommend, however, that people wanting to schedule their free 30-minute soak call them ahead of time to reserve their spot.
