Colorado Springs, Colorado, Jun 05, 2019 /prREACH/ -- IntelliTec College is excited to announce they will again be sponsoring the annual Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC). The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is taking place for the 97th time, and this will be the 19th time that IntelliTec has participated as a sponsor.
Also known as the Race to the Clouds, the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC) has been called the greatest challenge in motorsports for both man and machine. Founded in 1916 by entrepreneur and philanthropist Spencer Penrose, the PPIHC has grown into an international event attracting the best drivers and riders from around the world. Taking place on “America’s Mountain,” the race is open to automobiles and motorcycles. Spanning just under 12.5 miles, there are 156 turns before the finish line, located at 14,115 feet in elevation. The race takes place annually on the last Sunday in June and will take place this year on June 30, 2019. For more information, visit the race website at https://ppihc.org/fans/.
The PPIHC’s automobile categories feature a wide variety of vehicles representing multiple forms of motorsport. The PPIHC has seen participants driving everything from production-based Time Attack challengers to purpose-built Open Wheel racers and state-of-the-art Unlimited vehicles. In the motorcycle category, motorcycles, quads and even sidecars are eligible for competition. Daredevils from across the globe race their favorite powersport machines to conquer Pikes Peak, whether on two, three or four wheels. Also called “America’s Mountain,” these extreme athletes all compete to be named “King of the Mountain.”
IntelliTec College is proud to be a sponsor of this community event for the 19th year. Dr. David Scott, Campus Director of IntelliTec’s Colorado Springs campus said, “As an organization we are proud to partner with the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb for the past 19 years and sponsor such a great event.
