Sep 21, 2018 /prREACH/ -- HomeRium, a South Korea based shower filter company has recently highlighted the fact that residual chlorine in tap water may cause skin problems such as dryness, as a part of their 2018 skincare awareness campaign.

Byung Yun Min, a spokesperson for the company says: “People use chlorine to kill bacteria in the water and to prevent bacteria pollution; however, when chlorine is added to the water, it combines with other natural components to form Trihalomethanes (Chlorine byproducts), or THMs. These chlorine byproducts trigger the production of free radicals in the body, causing cell damage, and are highly carcinogenic. Although concentrations of these carcinogens (THMs) are low, it is precisely these low levels that scientists believe are responsible for the majority of human cancer patients in the United States. It is for this reason that we have developed our product, a shower filter that removes most of the residual chlorine in the water.”

Research on chlorinated water has shown that Chlorine and chloramine vapors are associated with greater risk of asthma and may damage the mucosal lining of the respiratory tract. Free radicals in chlorinated water have been linked to liver malfunction, weakening of the immune system and pre-arteriosclerotic changes in arteries.

This problem of chlorinated water can be fixed by using shower filters in one’s bathroom. Typically, people absorb up to 60% of free chlorine through their shower water, most of which can be removed with the use of a shower filter. Unlike softeners that only fox hard water, shower filters remove the amount of free chlorine in the water, making it much safer for use.

HomeRium’s shower filter includes Calcium Sulfite which decreases the residual chlorine in the shower water. To learn more about HomeRium and their product range, check out their Amazon storefront as well as their official website here - www.homerium.com.
