Apr 29, 2015 /prREACH/ -- REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Robin Dummer as the 14th president of Simpson University.

“Dr. Dummer's faithful service, understanding of the Simpson community, its culture and the institution's vision will allow for rapid advancement in our programs and growth in areas of high interest,” said Dr. Betty Dean, chair of the board, which convened April 25 on campus for its annual spring meeting.

Dr. Dummer has served as interim president for the past two years. From 2005-2013, he served as Simpson University’s associate provost and accreditation liaison officer. He was also dean of the School of Traditional Undergraduate Studies. He began serving at Simpson in 1994.

“In addition to appointing Dr. Dummer, the board acknowledges his most valuable service to the university during the past 24 months as interim president,” Dr. Dean said. “With the strong support of the board, faculty, staff and administration, we have confidence that his leadership will serve the university well as we move forward in the grace and power of our loving Savior.”

Dr. Dummer received a bachelor’s degree in history from Simpson College, a master of divinity from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, a master’s degree in history from California State University at Chico, and a doctoral degree in educational leadership from George Fox University.

“I am grateful to the Simpson board for this appointment and its confidence in me to lead the school well,” Dr. Dummer said. “I strongly believe in the continuing relevance of our historic motto, ‘Gateway to World Service,’ and my desire is that we increase Simpson University’s impact in the local community and the broader world through well-prepared graduates who are committed to global service.”

He and his wife, Debbie, have been married for 40 years. They have two grown daughters.
