Oct 17, 2013 /prREACH/ -- Plaintiffs Continue to Emerge in Dialysis Lawsuits Heavens Law Firm is currently representing victims who were injured by the dialysis drugs GranuFlo and NaturaLyte, manufactured by Fresenius. October 3, 2013—Charleston, West Virginia—Plaintiffs who have been injured by the dialysis drugs GranuFlo and NaturaLyte continue to emerge as the lawsuit against Fresenius, the maker of these drugs, progresses to settlement. Attorney Chris Heavens of Heavens Law Firm in Charleston, West Virginia, is currently representing plaintiffs in West Virginia and nationwide who may have suffered injuries due to these drugs as well as the family members of those who died as a result of GranuFlo and NaturaLyte use in dialysis. The Food and Drug Administration forced a Class 1 recall in May of 2012 of the two drugs due to serious patient health issues and deaths reported by those who administered dialysis treatments. It soon emerged that Fresenius, the company that produced the drugs, had known for some time that the slightest overdose of these drugs could produce life-threatening alkalosis, a condition in which the blood alkaline level rises suddenly, leading to heart attacks and other serious health issues. An internal memo that emerged from Fresenius showed that as early as January 2010, more than two years before the FDA recall, Fresenius had evidence that patients were suffering cardiopulmonary arrest as a result of using the two drugs. In fact, a study conducted by the company showed that patients who were given GranuFlo or NaturaLyte were 6.3 times more likely to suffer cardiac arrest than those given other drugs. However, Fresenius failed to make this study or the information regarding the drugs public. Chris Heavens is currently taking new clients who believe they may have a case against Fresenius for negligence in warning about these dangerous dialysis drugs. Anyone who has been on dialysis prior to May of 2012 and experienced heart attacks, heart arrhythmia, shortness of breath or other cardiopulmonary issues should contact Heavens Law Firm for a free, confidential consultation.
