Apr 20, 2017 /prREACH/ -- Dallas, TX — Asher College is continuing its commitment to the community by hosting a blood drive on Thursday, April 20 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Dallas campus, 16301 Quorum Drive in Addison, Texas.
Asher College Dallas is partnering with Carter BloodCare for the third year to help address the endless need for blood donations. According to Carter BloodCare, a person needs blood every three seconds and a pint of blood can help save the lives of three people.
“Sponsoring a blood drive is an important community responsibility and it gives Asher College a chance to help those in need,” said Garth Adams, Asher College Dallas Director of Career Services and blood drive coordinator. “Participating in the blood drive will help Carter BloodCare support the patients in the Dallas community who need it most.”
Patients with cancer, victims of accidents and patients undergoing surgery are the main recipients of blood donations. On average, one in every seven hospital patients is in need of a life-saving blood transfusion.
People who wish to donate blood may sign up in advance for an appointment by visiting the Asher College Dallas Facebook page or emailing Garth Adams at [email protected]. Walk-ins are also welcome.
“As a two-time cancer survivor with four operations in the last year, the importance of blood donations is close to home,” said Adams. “At some point, everyone will know someone who will need a blood donation. A donor never knows whose life could be saved; and one day it could even be their own.”
Carter BloodCare was founded in the 1950’s and provides 300,000 units of life-saving blood components to more than 200 medical facilities in North, Central and East Texas annually.
