Jan 23, 2018 /prREACH/ -- Las Vegas, NV — Asher College - Las Vegas is continuing its commitment to the community by partnering with Walgreens Pharmacy to host a free flu clinic at Asher College’s Las Vegas Campus. The free flu shots will be available to the first 100 people on Thursday, January 25 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at 6029 W. Charleston Blvd in Las Vegas, Nevada. The flu shots will be administered by a licensed Walgreens Pharmacist and a Pharmacy Technician on a first-come, first-served basis.

The influenza virus that has struck millions of Americans is already the most widespread outbreak since public health authorities began keeping track more than a dozen years ago. With the threat of more strains, it might get even worse. The flu season typically runs from October to May, peaking from December to February. According to the United States Center for Disease Control, the flu has spread to most of the nation with states such as Nevada experiencing high and intensive flu activity. Influenza has already claimed multiple lives and the United States may be experiencing one of the most severe flu seasons in recent history, comparable to the severe flu season of 2014- 2015, according to recent available data.

Asher College Pharmacy Technician instructor Mary Jane De La Cruz has mentioned that the flu shot is always the best option for avoiding the flu. The flu is highly contagious and can be unknowingly spread to co-workers, family and friends. She went on to say that everyone is at risk and Asher College encourages the community to stay healthy and take advantage of this preventative health service.
