Feb 23, 2018 /prREACH/ -- Each year in the United States individuals and couples make the decision to grow their family through adoption. Making the decision is easy - deciding how to move forward with the process can feel daunting. For many, the first choice that needs to be made it whether they want to choose domestic or international adoption.

When asked, the majority of prospective parents in the beginning of their adoption journey will admit that they’ve heard that domestic adoption is more expensive than international and that it can take years to be matched with a child which is why they often focus on international adoption first. However, when research is performed, it turns out that these ideas are simply well perpetuated myths and that adopting domestically isn't as expensive or difficult as many believe it to be.

Around 18,000 infants are adopted in the U.S. each year and those babies are placed directly from the hospital into their new home. The costs associated with those adoptions are typically the same as international adoption and about two-thirds of all waiting families are matched with their child within two to twelve months.

To educate those interested in adoption on the benefits of domestic adoption, Adoptions From The Heart is hosting an informational Webinar on Tuesday, May 1st, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. EST. The webinar, “Discovering Domestic Infant Adoption” is open to all couples or singles who are currently living in the U.S and will be led by a social worker who will be available to answer any questions that participants may have.
