Euphrasia Officinalis, more popularly known as Eyebright, is a wild plant native to Western Europe. Long used in herbal medicine, it's typically touted as a natural remedy for eye problems. Eyebright is usually taken by mouth to treat inflamed nasal passages, allergies, hay fever, common cold, bronchial conditions, and inflamed sinuses (sinusitis). It is also used for cancer, coughs, conjunctivitis, earaches, epilepsy, headaches, hoarseness, inflammation, jaundice, runny nose, skin ailments, and sore throat.

Eyebright is also applied to the eyes to prevent mucus and mucous membrane inflammation of the eyes.

As an astringent, the herb is used to aid in the healing on skin wounds. It is made into a poultice and used on the wound topically. It can also be used to treat acne and aid in skin inflammation. A cold Eyebright poultice can help tighten skin. Historically, Eyebright has been used in British Herbal Tobacco, which was smoked for ongoing lung conditions and colds.
