Oct 05, 2018 /prREACH/ -- Africa loses an average of 30 000 elephants a year. That’s about one every 15-25 minutes. But the situation is far grimmer. Every single day, two conservation heroes – game rangers – are killed as are three rhinos and countless pangolin. A few months back, the world’s last Northern White Rhino died.
Human-wildlife conflict plays as big a role in this crisis as poaching. This Trans-Southern Africa trip has just started and will traverse Zimbabwe, Namibia, South Africa, and Botswana through the end of October 2018.
These women plan to distribute 30 000 wildlife educational booklets about Human-Wildlife co-existence awareness. They will also raise funds to raise awareness for four causes: Elephants Alive (South Africa), Rare and Endangered Species Trust (Namibia), Eco-Exist Project (Botswana) and the Soft Foot Alliance Trust (Zimbabwe).
Tommi Wolfe, a Colorado resident, is one of the women participating in this trip. She says, "I am no longer capable of watching beloved major species like rhino and elephant go extinct and doing nothing. We are the last generation on Earth capable of protecting our precious planet and home. I love that this is an all-women expedition because for centuries, women have been homemakers who nurture, protect, and collaborate to proect their homes. I belie e women are powerful enough to protect our collective home."
Wolfe asks that those touched by this effort help in three ways.
