Biological chemicals in our body when it is affected by skin disorders may increase or impede nutrition to malfunctioning cells in the skin and, aggravate rosacea, keloids and hyperpigmentation. A natural secretion from land snails supplies oxygen and molecules that support the capacity of the skin to make structural, regulatory and defensive compounds, work at full potential, and help alleviate or remedy those and many other cosmetic skin concerns. Aug 25, 2014 /prREACH/ -- In the human body there are certain bio-chemical molecules known as “growth factors” that function to produce new blood vessels throughout embryonic development, brand-new blood vessels after injury, muscle following workout, and new vessels for collateral blood circulation to bypass blocked vessels. They also dilate blood vessels.
In people with skin affected by melasma, hyperpigmentation, keloid scars, rosacea or dermatitis, a mixed inflammatory infiltrate of white blood cells and other immune cells is observed in the epidermis. And growth factors are over-expressed in both the affected epidermis and in the sebaceous glands. Overexpression of growth factors may lead to the provision of too much oxygen and too many nutrients to already malfunctioning cells of the skin and contribute to aggravate those skin concerns.
Under stress conditions induced by influences from the environment: cold, heat, solar radiation, free radical oxidizing agents, chemical contaminants, pathogens, accidents that injure, malnourishing, or immune disorders, the skin loses some of its capacity to respond, and make structural, regulatory and defensive compounds (such as collagen, growth factors, pigments and/or antioxidants or antimicrobial peptides) or makes them in lesser quantities or higher quantities than those necessary to fulfill its role.
A good strategy when the skin is not working properly is to assume it lacks the endogenous factors that it needs to function at full potential and provide them from the outside.
Secretions from Helix Aspersa or Cryptomphalus aspersa snails, or the humble brown garden snail, contain soluble proteins, peptides, and intricate carbohydrate and other molecules. Among them copper containing pigments are found. They serve in the uptake, transport and release of oxygen, for oxygenation of tissues.
These snails are invertebrate animals with skin that resembles human skin and have glands among their tissues that we do not have. Those secrete a complex serum containing some molecules that are restorative of the biochemical, structural and regulatory processes in human skin.
When this snail suffers an external insult, for example a burn or ionizing radiation, and even mechanical injuries, it responds by producing a complex glycoprotein secretion. The serum is known to regenerate the damaged structures of the animal's skin in less than two days. It is also thought to protect it from bacterial infections and tumors, because these have never been observed in these snails.
In human skin the serum improves the morphology and proliferation capacity of fibroblasts showing signs and symptoms of aging (senescence).
But more notably, the serum appears to enhance cell performance. Its use can increase the formation of collagen, elastic fibers and water holding molecules.
It likewise favors the induction and assembly of the fibronectin extracellular matrix, hence helping with the reordering, movement and migration of fibrous proteins and cells in the skin matrix. And it also supplies glycosaminoglycans, including hyaluronic acid. These make up a small portion of the dry weight of the skin, but they can increase its water volume by 1000-fold. The hydration of the skin for that reason is much improved.
Snail secretions thus bring many benefits to those affected by several skin concerns.
Benefits for radio-dermatitis, photo-aging, eczema, and skin burns have been validated by clinical evidence from prestigious independent institutions from around the world. While clinical studies conducted internally by Andes Natural have proven they are effective for keloid scars, melasma, rosacea, dermatitis, acne and other cosmetic concerns.
Biocutis® includes in its products the snail secretions embedded in liposomes, so that they penetrate deeply into the epidermis, to address the causes and relieve the symptoms of several skin concerns.
