Albuquerque, New Mexico, Jun 17, 2019 /prREACH/ -- IntelliTec College is proud to announce that their Albuquerque Campus has received approval from the Workforce Investment Opportunity Act (WIOA) for their Computer Systems Technician Program.
The Workforce Investment Opportunity Act (WIOA) is designed to help job seekers access employment, education, training, and support services to succeed in the labor market. The WIOA also aims to match employers with the skilled workers they need to compete in the global economy. The WIOA act was passed by a wide bipartisan majority in Congress and signed into law by President Barack Obama in July 2014.
Two key tenets of the WIOA are to Provide Access to High Quality Training, and to Enhance Workforce Services for the Unemployed and Other Job Seekers. The WIOA emphasizes training programs that lead to industry recognized post-secondary credentials, and the WIOA helps job seekers acquire industry-recognized credentials for in-demand jobs.
Through the Workforce Investment Opportunity Act (WIOA), students interested in career-training services can apply for grants of up to $9,000. After attending an orientation with WIOA, qualified students may apply and go through the approval process. Depending on income, home situation, and work situation, students will be eligible for up to the full $9,000 grant.
The Computer Systems Technician Program at IntelliTec College’s Albuquerque Campus has been approved by the WIOA to receive such grants. Students receiving WIOA grants to study in the Computer Systems Technician program will benefit from decreased costs associated with the program. Fred Crum, the Director of Education at IntelliTec Albuquerque said, “This is such a huge benefit to potential students as it lowers the amount of federal student loans they may have to take, or covers what could potentially be an out of pocket cost.”
