San Diego, CA, Mar 17, 2020 /prREACH/ -- San Diego natural fertility expert, Julie Chang, has recently released a statement regarding the escalating coronavirus pandemic and getting pregnant. A leading natural fertility coach for women over 35 and 40, Chang has written a lengthy article directed towards older women trying to conceive at this time, including ways to strengthen their immune system.
More information on the importance of the immune system for fertility can be found in Chang's upcoming workshop: https://fertilityeggspurt.com/workshop/?mc_cid=b5f4555dff&mc_eid=beb0bca1fc.
According to Chang, "Coronavirus is a new pathogen, and as such, we know little of it and what to expect. In the last week alone, its uncertainty has created huge global panic. While I encourage all women trying to get pregnant after the age of 35 to do their due diligence in protecting themselves, I also would like to point out that all this fear-mongering can stress older moms out. This undue stress can significantly compromise your own immune system and ready your body for infection -- directly affecting your fertility and chances of pregnancy."
In her article, Chang outlines the progression of COVID-19 since its emergence in December 2019, as well as the impact the media has made on society's response to the pandemic. Chang says while the media has focused on the minority -- those who have tragically died -- the vast majority of the world's population have either recovered or have been unaffected.
"Coronavirus is a highly contagious and potentially deadly virus, definitely. However, I firmly believe that as conscientious coaches and practitioners, instead of inciting fear, we should be reassuring women trying to conceive that we will get through this. Emphasizing precautions without inducing further stress will best prepare women over 35 and even 40 for getting pregnant," Chang continues.
For older women, getting pregnant in their mid to late 30s and into their 40s can already be a daunting and stressful experience, says Chang. Her article thoroughly explains important measures those trying to conceive can take to reduce the likelihood of contracting COVID-19, including detoxification of the body, diet changes and sleep patterns. Supplementation with Vitamin D, zinc and selenium is also encouraged for preventing infection and can benefit fertility as well.
With regard to travel, Chang advises against it.
"I get a lot of questions about travel, and I recommend avoiding it. I do not advise traveling during the first trimester, regardless of outbreaks, and the added stress is just not worth it," she says.
