Reno, Nevada, May 04, 2020 /prREACH/ -- The non-profit organization, Stitched Together, has donated more than 900 face masks after mobilizing sewing volunteers throughout the United States. After receiving a face-mask sewing kit delivered to their homes for free, volunteers work to protect lives, one stitch at a time. Volunteers then ship their hand-or machine-sewn face masks to Stitched Together to be included in bulk donations to organizations that need face masks during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We hope to empower volunteers to spread empathy, compassion, and positivity to those in dire need of face masks during this pandemic," said Samantha Lee, Stitched Together president and founder. "I am beyond proud of the tremendous impact Stitched Together has made in only four weeks and cannot wait to see what the future has in store for our face mask sewing movement."
Stitched Together has momentarily pivoted its efforts from teaching volunteers as young as age 6 how to hand-stitch teddy bears to hand-stitching or machine-sewing face masks. Through social media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and Tik Tok, the organization has been able to deliver free face-mask sewing kits to volunteers in 13 states and reach an audience of more than 52,000 people worldwide. Thanks to the efforts of countless volunteers, Stitched Together has donated face masks to many partner organizations, including Mountain View Hospital, Mt. San Antonio Gardens Retirement Home, and Covenant Medical Center.
After sewing face masks, a volunteer sewer said, "Thank you for the opportunity to help [...] Hope is working." While many Americans are struggling with mental health issues, Stitched Together is thrilled to offer hope for anyone wanting to make a difference during COVID-19.

###
Stitched Together is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that teaches children and adults to use their empathy, artistry, and power to affect others, one stitch at a time. Normally, our focus is encouraging volunteers to sew teddy bears, which are donated to one of our partner organizations that aid child survivors of terminal illnesses or domestic abuse. In response to COVID-19, we have focused our efforts on giving all our sewn masks to front line healthcare workers.
