A passionate entrepreneur, Stefanowicz graduated from the London School of Economics in 2005. She joined investment banking company, HSBC, in the commercial/corporate sector, and worked there for 13 years. After leaving HSBC, she started her lingerie brand.
In a candid discussion with Farrar, Stefanowicz shares that she came from Poland and moved to the UK when she was 19. That was at a time when communist countries like Poland were not open to the Western world. However, Stefanowicz had a dream to study in the UK, and she made it happen.
Farrar asks Stefanowicz about her decision to get into the lingerie business, one of the most competitive niches of fashion retail. She says, "I wouldn't describe myself just as a lingerie professional, but someone passionate about entrepreneurship, fashion, and supporting females in business." She explains that she started by going from city to city with a suitcase of lingerie and speaking with private shop owners about a probable collaboration.
"It was very slow for the first 12 months. I wasn't making any money whatsoever. It was very much a learning process. But today, from the perspective of the last three years, I'm so pleased that I didn't give up because of the knowledge that I have gained working with customers understanding female silhouettes and what they're looking for," Stefanowicz says.
Stefanowicz's next goal is to write a book about running a lingerie business. She has recently started a store in Poland that she uses to test new concepts. Stefanowicz and her brand are very active on Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest as a way to engage with current and potential customers.
