Albuquerque, New Mexico, Sep 22, 2020 /prREACH/ -- IntelliTec College of Albuquerque has announced a new Associate of Occupational Science, Computer Network Systems Technician degree program. The new program is similar to the Computer Systems Technician certificate program already offered at IntelliTec Albuquerque but is a full degree program designed to take 19 months to complete.

IntelliTec College strives to provide training programs that prepare students for careers that are in high demand in their communities. IT professionals are the individuals who install, troubleshoot, and repair computers and their networks. In today’s technological world, businesses depend upon computers and on the IT professionals who build and maintain them. The United States Bureau of Labor Statistics expects employment in IT professions will grow by 11% in the coming years, faster than the average for all occupations, and account for 531,200 new jobs in the U.S. by 2029.

The new Computer Network Systems Technician program at IntelliTec Albuquerque teaches students the essentials of computer and network repair skills and prepares them to test for relevant professional certifications. IntelliTec students learn how to build and repair computers; install, configure, and maintain a variety of Windows operating systems in a stand-alone, workgroup, and domain environment; set up internet connections and establish different types of networks like LAN (local area network) or WAN (wide area network); establish and maintain functioning routers and servers and prevent and repair malfunctions when they occur, and maintain network security fundamentals with Cloud technology.

Additionally, students learn the necessary interpersonal “soft skills” for providing help and support to people and organizations using computer software or equipment. The CNST program is an Associate of Occupational Science (AOS) degree program and requires 90-credit hours, including General Education courses. Required courses include IntelliTec’s Career and College Readiness course and courses in business, leadership, and critical thinking.

IntelliTec is a CompTIA Authorized Academy, and the CNST program prepares graduates to test for professional certifications upon completion of the program. These certifications are recognized throughout the industry and highly valued by employers. IntelliTec prepares students to test for certifications, including the CompTIA IT Fundamentals, CompTIA A+ Certified Technician (two exams: Hardware and Software), CompTIA Network+ Certified Professional, CompTIA Security+ Certified Professional, CompTIA Cloud+, and the Microsoft Technology Associate — Server and Linux Essentials.

IntelliTec’s CNST program graduates will be prepared to enter the workforce as a computer systems administrator, network technician, end-user support specialist,  computer systems support technician, information technology associate, mobile device specialist (A+), or information security/assurance analyst. The AOS degree program can be completed in as few as 19 months.
