Jul 24, 2014 /prREACH/ -- Vista, California --Kai Hall is used to challenges, but the 32-mile open-ocean channel paddleboard race between two Hawaiian islands known as the Molokai 2 Oahu Paddleboard World Championship is daunting even for a seasoned waterman. Every year, more than 400 people compete, and this year Hall will be representing Original Watermen, a company dedicated to supporting those engaged in lifeguarding and all types of water sports with quality gear.
Paddlers from around the world will brave this grueling race across the Kaiwi Channel or Channel of Bones. Variables such as winds and currents change constantly, so paddlers must stay alert and use all of their skills just to stay in the race. Only the strongest will reach the finish line. This is the 18th year the race has been held and the sixth crossing for Kai Hall.
As a representative of Original Watermen, makers of quality lifeguard board shorts, two-piece lifeguard suits, and the world's best compression shorts, Hall, who is 38, will paddle in the prone stock 12-foot board division solo. Hall has been mountain biking, running, swimming and competing in triathalons in order to get in shape for the rigorous crossing. He hopes to best his personal record of third place overall in 2010 and 2012.
"With the support of Original Watermen, I am back to win this year," says Hall, who is considered one of the top contestants to watch. Leif Madron, marketing manager of Original Watermen, says, "We have been fans of Kai Hall for years. This race is his chance to show the 'young bucks' that a waterman has to 'earn his salt.'"
Kai will also be representing Gr3en Energy, an innovative energy company on the web at www.gr3en.org, and Wave Riding Vehicles or WRV, a surfboard company whose products can be seen at www.waveridingvehicles.com. The race will take place on July 27, 2014. For more information about the Molokai 2 Oahu Paddleboard World Championship, see http://www.molokai2oahu.com/.
