Annual Fundraiser of Lois Merrill Foundation to be Held in San Diego in May

Apr 21, 2014 /prREACH/ -- The Lois Merrill Foundation will hold its annual B3 Affair in San Diego on May 17, 2014. This annual fundraiser is held to raise funds which will be granted to people affected by carcinoid and other rare cancers as well as to fund research for new treatments. Award-winning photographer Aaron Chang will be one of the artists featured at the event.

The mission of the Lois Merrill Foundation (LMF) is to provide financial support for patients and their families, as well as promote awareness and education. The foundation issues direct grants to patients to help offset the cost of treatment and living expenses while undergoing treatment for the disease. LMF is a non-profit organization founded in 2007 in honor of Lois Merrill. Lois passed away in 2006 from Carcinoid cancer, a rare neuroendocrine cancer. The annual event is the largest fundraising event of the year for LMF and will include casino gaming, dinner buffet, open bar, silent auction, and art show.

LMF board member Carol Livingston states, “Our annual B3 Affair brings together talented artists and enthusiastic supporters of the Lois Merrill Foundation. This year internationally acclaimed artist Aaron Chang is participation in our event and we couldn’t be happier!” Livingston continues, “Aaron’s work will be showcased in the venue as well as featured in our online and silent auction. His commitment to the community is demonstrated by the extent of his participation and we are grateful to have him as part of our event”.

Artist Aaron Chang has been published in National Geographic, Newsweek, Forbes, Elle, Rolling Stone and other worldwide publications. In addition to Chang, internationally acclaimed artist Grant Pecoff will be participating as well as several other local up and coming artists.

The B3 Affair will take place on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at The Abbey in San Diego. It is a masquerade ball and is open to the public. All proceeds benefit The Lois Merrill Foundation.
