Dr. Benjamin Kacos Honors Students with Scholarship
Shreveport, LA – Each semester, Dr. Benjamin M. Kacos D.M.D. will award a scholarship to one university student and one high school student from Louisiana to be used towards college expenses.
The Dr. Benjamin M. Kacos D.M.D. Scholarship is a $250 cash prize meant to help the student cover the expenses of tuition fees and textbooks in their pursuit of higher education. To qualify, the student must submit an essay on why college education is still necessary despite the immense resources that can be found online. Each participant must write a persuasive essay of no more than 800 words. Students are advised to write a well-formed and convincing argument.
Scholarship applicants must be either a high school student looking to pursue post-secondary education in a community college or university, or already a college student in Louisiana with a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester in pursuit of a four-year degree. Applicants must be dedicated to pursuing post-secondary education, possess exemplary leadership qualities, and be current residents of Louisiana.
Two students will be selected to receive a cash prize of $250 each; two prizes will be awarded in the fall and another two prizes in the spring. Applicant essays will be reviewed by members of Crawford and O’Brien’s executive team. The essays will be judged on originality, quality of writing and critical argument presented. Submissions must be received by April 1, 2015, and October 1, 2015. Winners will be notified via email and names will be posted on the Facebook page on April 30, 2015, and October 31, 2015. Essay materials submitted by competition participants will be used in marketing materials such as website and other social media platforms.
“We are excited to be able to help Louisiana students with our scholarship,” said Dr. Kacos. “I look forward to reading the essays.”
