Feb 18, 2015 /prREACH/ -- CHEVY CHASE and SILVER SPRING, Md. – Dr. Dana Keith DDS, will award a scholarship to one high-school student and one college student from Maryland to help with college expenses.

The Dr. Dana Keith Scholarship is a $250 cash prize meant to be used toward the cost of tuition fees and textbooks in students’ pursuit of higher education. To qualify, high school and college students must submit an essay on why college education is still necessary despite the immense resources that can be found online. This should be a persuasive essay, with a well-formed and convincing argument, and no more than 800 words.

To qualify for consideration, applicants must be either a high school student looking to pursue post-secondary education in a community college or university or already be a college student in Maryland pursuing a four-year degree with a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester. Applicants must be current residents of Maryland, possess exemplary leadership qualities, and be dedicated to pursuing post-secondary education.

Two students will be selected to receive a cash prize of $250 each; two prizes will be awarded in the fall and another two prizes in the spring. Applicant essays will be reviewed by members of Crawford and O’Brien’s executive team. The essays will be judged on originality, quality of writing, and critical argument presented. Submissions must be received by April 1 and Oct. 1. Winners will be notified via email and names will be posted on the Facebook page on April 30 and Oct. 31. Essay materials submitted by competition participants will be used in marketing materials such as website and other social media platforms.
