Jun 26, 2015 /prREACH/ -- Dr. Harold Brook of Vero Dental Spa in Vero, Beach, FL is helping denture wearers find a superior alternative to their removable prosthetic devices that is allowing them to gain part of their life back even after tooth loss. Using mini dental implants, Dr. Harold Brooks is able to provide a way for patients to permanently fix their dentures to these implants to give them a sturdy, functional smile that they can be confident with.
While conventional removable dentures have been a standard solution for tooth loss for the past several decades, many patients still are not happy with the look or function of these prosthetic devices. Removable dentures require cumbersome adhesive strips or pastes and often to not restore full chewing function. Additionally, many patients complain about dentures becoming loose or breaking, leading to even more trouble with chewing and speaking. With mini implants retained dentures, however, Dr. Brooks is giving patients a better solution to permanent smiles.
Mini dental implants are small metal screws that are surgically inserted into the jawbone. Made of titanium, these metal screws naturally fuse with the jawbone and surrounding tissues, essentially acting as a replacement tooth root in the mouth. Mini dental implants are much smaller in size than traditional implants, meaning that the process to insert them into the jawbone is not as invasive nor does it require as much healing time.
To complete the mini implants retained denture process, Dr. Brooks typically places anywhere from two to four mini implants on the upper and lower arches of the mouth in the areas where the jaw bone is healthy and present enough to support them permanently. These mini implants are then used to fix the dentures directly to the jawbone, eliminating the need for adhesive strips or bonding pastes. Implant-retained dentures also prevent the devices from becoming loose or broken, giving patients much more satisfaction with smiling, chewing, and speaking in the long term.
Beyond providing mini implants retained dentures, Dr. Brooks also provides a variety of other general and cosmetic dentistry services at his Vero Beach, FL dental office. He has received special training in services such as sedation dentistry, orthodontics, non-surgical periodontal therapy, porcelain veneers, and traditional implants.
Dr. Brooks opened his first dental practice in Vero Beach in 1972. Throughout his more than 40 years of practice, Dr. Brooks has owned four different dental practices in the area. He is a graduate of Georgetown Dental School and also served for several years in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Ramstein, Germany and later completing training as a periodontist through the U.S. Air Force as well.
