Unlike with traditional braces, Invisalign patients are able to maintain their normal brushing and flossing routines during treatment, which typically results in less instances of decay and staining during and directly after treatment.
The Invisalign clear retainers that Dr. Postgate offers at his practice are not only practically invisible, but are also completely removable. Patients are instructed to wear their aligners the entire day except when eating, drinking, or brushing their teeth. The Invisalign daily routine eliminates the instances of food getting trapped in wires and brackets during meals, as with traditional braces. Also, it allows patients to use normal brushing and flossing techniques, unlike traditional braces that require special products for proper oral hygiene.

A proper brushing and flossing routine with traditional braces can take up to 30 minutes, require special flossing products, and can often be painful for patients with tight contacts to thread the flossing appliances between teeth. Additionally, braces oftentimes act as enhanced food traps that can cause food particles to get trapped between teeth, wires, and brackets and lead to decay if not removed immediately. With Invisalign, patients do not have to eat with their appliances in place, and can easily brush and floss within minutes to keep their teeth cavity-free.
Invisalign clear plastic aligners like those that Dr. Postgate offers represent some of the latest technology in the orthodontic field. A series of plastic retainers is customized for each patient using the latest 3D imaging technology. Patients wear a new set of aligners approximately every two weeks, and their design uses more gentle forces to gradually shift teeth into proper alignment over the course of 9-18 months.
As a practicing dentist for nearly 30 years, Dr. Postgate has extensive experience in general dentistry, oral surgery, and orthodontics.
