With Invisalign treatment that is completely removable, patients can better care for their teeth at home, and Dr. Allen’s staff can better clean them during regular visits.
Invisalign is some of the latest technology offered for orthodontic treatment. The treatment involves custom-made clear plastic aligners that fit snugly over the teeth, and when worn, are practically invisible. Patients wear the aligners all day, except for when eating, drinking, or when brushing and flossing. Unlike with traditional metal braces that require special products for proper flossing and brushing, Invisalign patients are able to maintain a normal oral hygiene routine.
“We’ve found that while our Invisalign patients are much happier during treatment because of the lifestyle flexibility the treatment offers, they are much happier with their teeth after the treatment is completed because they have less instances of cavities and staining,” said Dr. Allen. “In the long run, Invisalign also saves them a lot of money because they don’t need the extensive restorative care after treatment that traditional braces patients usually do because oral hygiene has been so difficult for them over the course of several months.”
While not every patient is a candidate for Invisalign therapy, it has been proven to effectively treat moderate to mild misalignment, gapping, crowding, and bite issues such as crossbites, underbites, and overbites. The treatment is completed over the course of 9-18 months as patients wear a different set of custom aligners every two weeks that gradually shift teeth into alignment. Because Invisalign aligners are removed when eating and drinking anything else than water, patients don’t experience the discoloration and staining that is so common with traditional metal braces.
