Nov 05, 2015 /prREACH/ -- Seattle Chiropractors Dr. Lincoln Kamell and Dr. Calvin Mulanax, as well as the entire staff at Eastlake Chiropractic and Massage Center, are pleased to welcome Roberta “Bobbie” Telles and Cedar Sol to their thriving clinic.
With Seattle's economy expanding rapidly, Dr. Kamell sees a growing need as well as a growing opportunity. “Most of the new jobs flooding the Seattle marketplace are tech-oriented. This means that more people are spending hours in front of a computer with poor posture and high stress. Massage therapy for these people is no longer a luxury but a necessity to maintain good health and better mental focus.”
According to Dr. Kamell, massage therapy is a particularly effective way to reduce work-related stress—and it’s also one that larger numbers of professionals are starting to recognize. “The American Massage Therapy Association's 2014 Consumer Survey pointed in this direction when it revealed that 23% of the individuals who had received a massage in the prior 12 months were motivated primarily by stress. And recent research may help to explain why. Studies suggest that massage therapy may directly affect the symptoms of stress as well as anxiety and depression. For example, it helps to decrease the physical and psychological toll of stress by slowing the heart rate, reducing blood pressure and improving the overall emotional state.”
While increasing numbers of people are looking to massage therapy for a variety of health benefits, Dr. Kamell is quick to point out that not all massage—and not all therapists—are created equal when it comes to delivering those benefits. "Most massage therapists who work in a chiropractic or medical setting have experience caring for injured and recovering patients. This generally means that they’re more skilled than those who, say, work in a spa setting. They are also sure to be licensed and credentialed, which can allow the consumer to feel more confident with their care.”
When it comes to working as part of the Eastlake Chiropractic and Massage team, Dr. Kamell believes that having the right combination of technical and people skills is the key to being effective. “Of equal importance is, one, the ability to deliver a deep tissue treatment that is focused on facilitating recovery and two, the ability to put a client at ease. Both Bobbie and Cedar are down to earth, warm personalities that allow their clients to fully relax in a session.” In addition, he recognizes that there’s no substitute for good chemistry in the office and believes that Cedar and Bobbie will be great addtions to the practice.
