Aug 23, 2014 /prREACH/ -- Folbot supports Clemson Outdoor Recreation and Education (CORE) programs by donating two folding kayaks. Clemson alum and head of Folbot, Eric Thome, says, “We love what Clemson is doing to help students and the community enjoy the beautiful outdoor environment that makes Clemson such a special place. The healthy lifestyle they are promoting with this program benefits everyone and we are proud to be a part.”
The CORE program provides the Clemson University community the opportunity to participate in a variety of outdoor adventure activities. Trips and instructional programs are designed for every skill level and include backpacking, hiking, river running, canoeing, sea kayaking, and rock climbing. CORE also provides an equipment rental service, where kayaks may be reserved for free by Clemson University students and members of Campus Recreation.
Folbot donated two kayak models: an Aleut and a Yukon. A serious expedition kayak, the Aleut is the shortest and lightest model, designed to fit shorter paddlers. A larger model, the Yukon provides space for the paddler and allows for heavy expedition payload needs. Both kayaks can be folded into a backpack. “As we try to improve our market outreach the active student is just the type of customer we love - big desire for a kayak but no space to keep it," says Thome.
Robert Taylor, the Assistant Director of Outdoor Recreation at Clemson says, “The CORE program is excited to partner with Folbot to provide the Clemson community with opportunities to get involved in the sport of kayaking. We are really looking forward to introducing our students to such an innovative product. The design of this boat will allow us to extend our kayak rental service to new participants. I believe these boats will be a big hit for those students who are looking to get more involved in the sport but do not have room for a kayak in their apartment or do not have a way to transport a hard shell boat.” ` About Folbot Folbot, the world’s longest continuously producing folding kayak manufacturer, was founded in England in 1933. It became the first North American producer of foldable skin-on-frame kayaks when it relocated to New York in 1935 and finally settled in Charleston, S.C. in 1953. Known for quality manufacturing and a lifetime manufacturer’s warranty, Folbot now offers nine models to accommodate all varieties of paddlers and uses. All Folbots are handcrafted and made in the U.S.A. and paddled around the world. See how adventure unfolds at www.folbot.com.
