Jul 08, 2014 /prREACH/ -- The United States Department of Agriculture has launched its new "Smart Snacks In School" competitive food rules, and HUMAN Healthy Vending is supporting this program by offering schools healthy vending machines with a wide variety of healthy snacks and beverages that comply with the standards.
HUMAN Healthy Vending, located online at http://www.healthyvending.com/, is one of the nation's first healthy vending franchise companies. As a socially-responsible vending franchise, HUMAN Healthy Vending, as seen at http://www.entrepreneur.com/franchises/humanhealthyvending/334215-0.html, offers snack options that comply with the newly-launched federal initiative "Smart Snacks in School."
The USDA’s "Smart Snacks In School" rules came into effect as a result of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 and affect any school that participates in the National School Lunch Program. The Interim Final Rule, which went into effect on July 1st, 2014, require that snacks include more whole grains, low-fat dairy, protein, fruits and vegetables, and that limits are set on calories, fats, sugar and sodium.
HUMAN Healthy Vending, as seen at https://www.facebook.com/HealthyVending?sk=wall, is helping to support the implementation of the "Smart Snacks In School" standards by offering a wide range of healthy and student-tested options in its vending machines. Schools that adhere to the Smart Snacks In School rules ensures that snacks and beverages sold in their vending machines, student stores, a la carte and via fundraising meet the same level of standards as their school lunches. This means that the school environment sends a consistent message to students that nutrition is important.
In addition to providing compliant snacks and beverages to schools via healthy vending machines, HUMAN also works with each school location to ensure its other competitive food options meet the Smart Snacks In School rules.
HUMAN Healthy Vending is pleased to be able to support the USDA’s Smart Snacks In School rules and encourage children in schools everywhere to choose better snack options.
