According to Guralnick, Palm Beach County had the third highest number of reported boating accidents in 2013, behind only Monroe and Miami-Dade county. Florida also had the highest number of boating accidents that year with 662. California was next one the list with only 365.

Guralnick added that collision with a vessel and collision with a fixed object are the two primary types of accidents that occur on the water. In 2013, those two types of accidents combined for 327 of the 736 accidents that were reported.
