Here are three helpful ways to prepare the backyard for spring.

Get the Lawn Ready for Traffic – Healthy grass can easily handle normal foot traffic from friends and family throughout the winter months. However, after a long winter, weeds may have moved in to choke out healthy grass. Get started early by giving the lawn a helping hand and a good foundation.
Get rid of any debris that has blown or fallen down on the grass. Rake up old leaves, pick up trash and pull weeds that have taken hold. Spread a good quality weed killer/fertilizer combo on the existing grass, and cover bare spots with seed to help it get started. Once the lawn is re-established and growing well, keep it mowed, but don’t over cut. Cutting grass too short may lessen the number of times it has to be cut, but it damages the good grass, opening areas for weeds to thrive.
