Oct 28, 2014 /prREACH/ -- Houston Plastic Surgeon Dr. Cara Downey and her staff hosted a “Cool Night Out’ event with a presentation by Zeltiq/CoolSculpting Representative Ross Hyde. There was a live demonstration provided of how Cool Sculpting works along with the presentation. Light bites and beverages were provided and two Free Treatments were raffled off. In addition Dr. Downey and her assistant Carla Gonzalez provided Free Consultations for the more than twenty guests present. Dr. Downey also offered Special Pricing for CoolSculpting Treatments.
CoolSculpting is a new form of a non-invasive procedure that can be performed as part of an office visit for freezing away unwanted fat. This procedure uses controlled cooling to eliminate stubborn fat that resists all efforts through diet and exercise. The procedure is FDA-cleared, safe and effective, with lasting and undeniable results.
Coolsculpting, also known as cryolipolysis, is a revolutionary way to eliminate fat by freezing it. The procedure induces lipolysis, or the breakdown of fat cells. These fat cells are then absorbed by the body and expelled through the lymphatic system. CoolSculpting is a non-surgical fat reduction technology that gently and effectively targets the fat cells underneath the skin while leaving the skin itself unaffected.
The Coolsculpting procedure is performed by Dr. Cara Downey by first placing a pad filled with cool gel on the area to be treated. Then an applicator cup will be expertly positioned in order to create a vacuum that will allow the fat tissue to be gently pulled between the cooled panels. Following treatment, the pad and applicator will be removed, and a technician will use pinpointed massage techniques to manually assist the breakdown of fat. Each session lasts about one hour.
Recovering from a Coolsculpting procedure is easy and most patients quickly return to their normal activities following treatment. There may be some redness immediately following the procedure which typically dissipates within an hour. Patients may have some swelling, which may last for several days to a week. Some tenderness is also to be expected but usually subsides within two weeks. Some patients may experience temporary numbness or a “pins and needles” sensation in the treated area but these symptoms typically subside within five weeks of the procedure.
The total number of treatments for each patient can vary but in most cases about 20% to 25% of the fat in the area treated will be eliminated during each one hour session. For many patients 2 treatments are recommended to get full correction and the desired results.
