Albuquerque, NM, Aug 27, 2021 /prREACH/ -- IntelliTec College of Albuquerque has announced enrollment is now open for a new Associate of Occupational Studies degree program designed for students who are looking to enter the medical field. IntelliTec Albuquerque will now offer a Healthcare Administration: Medical Assisting AOS degree program; the new medical AOS degree programs will begin September 27, 2021.
IntelliTec College’s mission is to provide the training programs students need in order to be prepared for the jobs that are in high demand in their communities. IntelliTec has added the Healthcare Administration: Medical Assisting AOS degree program to help meet the need for healthcare professionals in the Albuquerque, New Mexico area.
Medical Assistants are essential healthcare workers, working directly with both doctors and patients to perform both clinical and administrative tasks. IntelliTec’s Medical Assistant program prepares students with the knowledge and skills they need for entry-level positions in hospitals, physicians’ offices, medical clinics, nursing care facilities, and other healthcare settings. Students learn anatomy and physiology of the human body, as well as how to perform medical tasks such as taking vital signs, administering medications, and preparing patients for medical procedures. IntelliTec students also learn to perform administrative duties such as appointment scheduling, insurance, and medical practice management.
The new Medical Assisting AOS degree program is 90.50 credit hours and can be completed in as few as 18 months. Students must complete 18 weeks of General Education courses, including Introduction to Business, Business Communications, and American History. All General Education courses may be completed 100% online. Graduates of the program receive a Healthcare Administration: Medical Assisting Associate of Occupational Studies degree and are prepared to sit for professional certifications including the AMT Registered Medical Assistant and Phlebotomist examinations.
