Next Generation Radar Level Sensor With 2mm Accuracy Achieves FCC Certification

summary

One of the country’s leading suppliers of hydro-meteorological sensors, Hydrological Services America, has announced that their next generation Hydra-Pulse SDI-12 non-contact Radar Level Sensor has achieved FCC certification. Building on an already innovative technology the ‘Hydra-Pulse’ Radar Level Sensor raises the bar even further by offering 2mm accuracy and a measuring range of up to 230 feet above water. The new instrument can be used to measure water level in many applications and industries. Easy to install, compact and maintenance free, the Hydra-Pulse maintains its accuracy regardless of rain, humidity, dust or temperature and has a Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) of more than 50 years. Mar 23, 2015 /prREACH/ -- LAKE Worth, Fla. - March 23, 2015 - Hydro-Meteorological sensor supplier, Hydrological Services America (HSA) has pushed Radar Level Sensor technology one notch higher with its next generation non-contact Level Radar with 2mm accuracy. HSA has revealed that their new 'Hydra-Pulse 235' and 'Hydra-Pulse 270' Radar Level Sensors have achieved FCC certification.

Peter Ward, Founder/CEO of HSA, has commented on the level radar's accuracy and durability: "People can see that it's extremely accurate...from the data...but you have to learn that something doesn't break...through your own experience and that takes time."

In recent years, Radar as a technology for the measurement of water level has become an invaluable tool to the Hydrographic, Water Treatment, Hydro-Power and Irrigation industries to name a few. The Hydra-Pulse Radar Level Sensor is completely non-contact, which means no degradation, fouling or corrosion will occur, making it also ideal for the measurement of effluent, saltwater and wastewater.

The Hydra-Pulse is available in two measuring ranges. Hydra-Pulse 235 which measures up to 115ft (35 meters) and Hydra-Pulse 270 with a measuring range of up to 230ft (70 meters), both with industry best 2mm accuracy. Other features include rugged waterproof construction and an encapsulated antenna system making the sensor completely maintenance free. The Hydra-Pulse is available as a stand-alone sensor with a 4-20mA output, or when combined with the SDI-12 'HartBeat' Interface, provides even greater flexibility and features.

Beyond simple signal conversion the 'HartBeat' communicates directly with the sensor, so no accuracy is lost. It comes standard with simultaneous SDI-12 and 4-20mA outputs (or optional dual SDI-12 outputs), and RS-485 (ModBus) output. In addition the 'HartBeat Plus' adds a backlit LCD display which allows remote configuration and programming.

Hydrological Services America is a leading supplier of Hydro-Meteorological Sensors and equipment in North and South America. HSA's mission is to supply the instrument that is right for their client and their specific application. Regardless of location, extreme conditions or integration requirements, HSA is dedicated to finding the solution that is best for retrieving, storing and sending the most accurate and reliable data possible.
