Aug 03, 2017 /prREACH/ -- Shoulder and neck pain is an increasing problem these days with the evolution of more sedentary jobs forcing people to sit for long hours, and without a corrective program to address postural and movement imbalances a simple tight shoulder can become a long-term painful condition. The shoulder is a complicated area of the body to work with, because there are so many factors at play, and so many things to address and consider. Assessing the movement and stability requirements of all moving parts around the shoulder is crucial to resolving the problem for good.
The spine is where recovery begins, as its the structure from which all the limbs are supported and a rigid thoracic spine will be unable to position the shoulder in correct alignment and will continue to create shoulder pain. Mobilising the spine can be difficult for many people and first requires assessment and then the development of thoracic extension and effective rotation of the upper back.
With the thoracic spine mobilized its important to also assess the scapula and how well it’s functioning. The scapula is unique, needing lots of mobility, but not too much because it needs lots of stability too. A focus on controlled mobility and stability of the scapula is what creates optimal alignment and shoulder function. Relearning movement patterns that co-ordinate and sequence ideal movement mechanics is key to addressing shoulder pain.
No Regrets Personal Training Owner/Operator, Nick Jack, said the laws of good posture, alignment, along with optimal movement cannot be broken or ignored. Treating muscles without addressing how they actually move together as a team is why so many people can waste months, if not years, trying to get rid of their neck and shoulder pain. Pain can have a major impact on a person’s quality of life and the guide focuses on regaining functional movements, rather than extreme measures such as surgery, to help overcome this complex yet increasingly common problem.
“There is a misconception in the wider community that invasive surgery and medical drugs are normal solutions for dealing with pain. We’ve been taught in today’s modern world to treat symptoms. What we must recognize is that in most cases shoulder pain is the result of poor posture, breathing dysfunction, and repetitive movements. This Shoulder Pain Guide aims to show people the power of a proper rehabilitation program,” Mr. Jack said.
Mr. Jack explains that as a CHEK (Corrective Holistic Exercise Kinesiology) Practitioner and Personal Trainer for over 12 years, he has seen numerous clients who were in immense pain and struggling to participate in day to day life who’ve gone on to live pain free by simply addressing the root cause of their problem. He goes on to say that clients must become more educated about how to apply good principles of health using a proven formula of strength training, nutrition, and lifestyle habits to prevent injury and overcome chronic pain.
Motivated and tested by his own recovery from shoulder injury and inspired by the results from clients at No Regrets Personal Training, the Guide to Overcoming Shoulder Pain is a comprehensive program to help people from all around the world to get on top of their pain in the comfort of their own home. Available for immediate download, the kit features a comprehensive 95 page eBook with detailed instructions and accompanying videos, assessments, exercises, a recovery program with time frames and a nutrition plan.
The recovery program looks into the fundamentals of a well-structured rehabilitation program including establishing what repetitive movements may be causing the condition, assessing posture and flexibility imbalances, breathing mechanics, proper stretching, isolated strength and integrated strength training.
