Sep 01, 2016 /prREACH/ -- Lamson Institute is an accredited career college located in San Antonio, Texas that has been providing hands-on training in a variety of fields since 2007. Recently Lamson Institute added a new program to its already impressive program selection. That new program is the Optical/Optometric Assistant Program.
Since it opened in 2007, Lamson Institute has trained hundreds of adults in the skills they need to start rewarding new careers. The programs currently offered at Lamson Institute include a Electrical Technician program; a Lab Assistant, EKG Technician/Phlebotomist program; a Medical Assistant program; a Medical Biller/Coder/Office Assistant program; a Commercial Refrigeration, Heating and Air Conditioning program; and now it’s newest program is the Optical/Optometric Assistant program.
The new Optical/Optometric Assistant program at Lamson trains students in the skills they need to start rewarding careers assisting optometrists (also known as eye doctors). This new program can be completed in as little as 9 months and graduates from the program will be qualified to work in a variety of settings including an optometrist’s private practice, a vision care clinic, or another eye care facility.
Some of the skills that students enrolled in the Optical/Optometric Assistant program will learn include how to test patients for visual acuity, depth perception and blindness. Students also learn how to use precision optical tools as well as lens-edging machines. This unique program also includes an externship so that students get a chance to put their skills to use in a real-world setting.
The next start date for Lamson’s new Optical/Optometric Assistant program is September 12, 2016. There is still time to enroll in this upcoming program, so it is encouraged that people in the San Antonio area who are interested in this new and exciting program reach out directly to Lamson Institute to speak with an admissions representative who can help answer questions and walk them through the process. Lamson Institute can be reached at (210) 465-1794.
