Las Vegas, NV, Aug 10, 2020 /prREACH/ -- Asher College is proud to announce that Pharmacy instructor, Mary Jane De La Cruz, has been recognized by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) for her contributions to the field of Pharmacy. De La Cruz has been with Asher since 2017 and works at the Las Vegas campus of Asher College.
In July 2020, Pharmacy instructor, Mary Jane De La Cruz, was acknowledged by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) for her assistance in creating and reviewing test content for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE). De La Cruz was one of eight individuals selected by the PTCB in June 2020 to attend a remote item writing mentors meeting. The purpose was to review and develop new test questions for the national Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE).
In its letter of appreciation, De La Cruz was commended for the valuable contributions she made through her participation in the recent item writing mentors meeting. The PTCB explicitly acknowledged Ms. De La Cruz's outstanding commitment to pharmacy practice. Asher College, as well, recognizes De La Cruz's contributions to the field of Pharmacy and is proud to have her as a valuable member of faculty.
Mary Jane De La Cruz brings almost thirty years of experience in pharmaceutical medicine to Asher's staff. De La Cruz holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy and a Master of Science degree in Pharmacy and has been teaching since 1991. In addition to being one of only eight individuals recently selected to develop and review the PTCE, De La Cruz has also been recruited to review textbook manuscripts, co-authored four pharmacy manuals, published her research in several academic journals, and authored two books on Pharmacy Science: Pharmaceutical Jurisprudence and Ethics and Pharmaceutical Care.
Asher' College's Pharmacy Technology program is a PTCB- recognized education/training program that teaches students the essential knowledge and practical skills necessary to succeed in entry-level positions. Students learn how to fill prescriptions under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, utilize relevant software applications, recognize the classifications of drugs and scheduled drugs, understand brand, generic, and OTC (over the counter) medications, adhere to HIPAA privacy regulations and comprehend and perform insurance procedures.
Asher offers an Associate of Applied Science degree program as well as a shorter certificate program. The certification portion can be completed in as few as 45 weeks. The program allows students to pursue their Pharmacy Technician certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), register for their license with the Nevada State Board of Pharmacy, and begin working in their field while still finishing up the additional courses for the degree. Asher College also offers these programs at their other locations in Dallas, TX and Sacramento, CA. Visit the Asher website Pharmacy program page for more information.
