Feb 27, 2015 /prREACH/ -- ROCKLIN, Calif. -- Dr. Keith Nguyen. from Pro Dental Group will hand out spring or fall scholarships to one high-school student and one college student from California to help with college expenses.

The Pro Dental Group Scholarship is a $250 cash award meant to be applied toward the cost of tuition, fees and textbook expenses in students’ pursuit of higher education. To apply, high school and college students must submit an essay on why a college education is necessary and valuable despite the vast quantity of resources that can be found online. This should be a persuasive essay with a well-formed and convincing argument, and no more than 800 words.

To qualify for consideration, applicants must be either a high school student looking to pursue post-secondary education in a community college or university or be an enrolled college student in California pursuing a four-year degree with a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester. Applicants must be current residents of California, possess exemplary leadership qualities and be dedicated to pursuing post-secondary education.

Two students will be selected to receive a cash prize of $250 each; two prizes will be awarded in the fall and another two prizes in the spring. Applicant essays will be reviewed by members of Crawford and O’Brien’s executive team. The essays will be judged on originality, quality of writing and critical argument presented. There are spring and fall scholarships available. Submissions must be received by April 1 and Oct.1. Winners will be notified via email and names will also be posted on the Facebook page on April 30 and Oct. 31. Essay materials submitted by competition participants will be used in marketing materials such as website and other social media platforms.

“We are really excited to be able to support students seeking higher education in California,” said Dr. Nguyen. “I am looking forward to finding out how students express their passions and interests that they plan to pursue in college.”
