Mar 12, 2015 /prREACH/ -- COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Star Dental Institute Inc. will award spring or fall scholarships to one high-school student and one college student from Colorado to help with the expenses of higher education.

The Star Dental Institute Inc. Scholarship is a $250 cash prize that a prospective student or existing student can apply toward the cost of tuition, fees and textbooks in their pursuit of higher education. To apply, high school and college students must submit an essay on the topic: “Why Is College Education Still Necessary Despite the Vast Quantity or Scholarly Resources One Can Find Online, Sometimes Even for Free?” This should be a persuasive essay with a well-formed and convincing argument and between 500 to 800 words.

To qualify for consideration applicants must either be a high school student looking to pursue post-secondary education in a community college or university or already be an enrolled college student in Colorado pursuing a four-year degree with a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester. Applicants must also be current residents of Colorado, possess exemplary leadership qualities and exhibit dedication to pursuing post-secondary education.

Two students will be selected to receive a cash prize of $250 each; two prizes will be awarded in the fall and another two prizes in the spring. Members of Star Dental Institute. Inc’s executive team will review the submissions and judge the essays on originality, quality of writing and critical argument presented. To be considered applications must be received by April 1 and Oct. 1 of the current year. Winners will be notified via email and names will be posted on the Facebook page on April 30 and Oct. 31. Also note that Star Dental Institute Inc. will use essay materials submitted by competition participants in marketing materials such as website and other social media platforms.
