The First Lawsuit Alleging Zofran Caused Cleft Palate

On April 3, 2015, parents from Billings, Montana became America’s first family to file a lawsuit claiming that GlaxoSmithKline’s anti-nausea drug Zofran caused their child’s cleft palate. In 2012, researchers from Harvard University found that women prescribed Zofran’s active ingredient were twice as likely to deliver babies with cleft palate.
