Jan 03, 2019 /prREACH/ -- San Diego, December 20th 2018 - Ms. Ebony Wright, a current veteran student in the Holistic Health Practitioner Program at the International College of Holistic Studies (ICOHS), is feeling relieved and thankful this holiday season.

She is one of the four deserving recipients of a Nissan Versa Sedan economy vehicle made available annually to Southern California military and veteran families in need through a non-profit organization called Support the Enlisted Project (“STEP”).

Ebony is no stranger to perseverance. While serving in the US Navy for nearly seven years, she had to show determination and dedication to excellence in every aspect of her work. After her military service, Ebony spent two years working as a veteran in-home caregiver catering to a community that she knew all too well. With the idea of bringing relief and alleviating difficulties veterans face in finding much needed help, guidance and care, Ebony started her own holistic health and integrative medicine services company while working and going to school full-time. In November of 2017, Ebony lost her car after being T-boned by another driver. This additional hardship almost threatened Ebony’s work and ability to continue her mission of giving back to her community.

After learning about the STEP’s car program from Beverly McGinley, the ICOHS Veteran Student Resources and Community Partner Liaison, Ebony submitted all the required documentation for STEP’s consideration and was chosen for the award out of many submissions from San Diego, Orange, Los Angeles, Ventura, Imperial, Riverside and San Bernardino counties.

Ebony’s service and contribution is an outstanding example of support system for so many veterans who feel alone and misunderstood after dedicating their lives to our country.

ICOHS is a non-profit, vocational accredited college located in San Diego, California. Established in 1984, ICOHS has decades of study, professional experience and academic innovation invested in providing the courses for successful careers. The college is also a military support partner of STEP whose mission is to assist junior active duty enlisted members and recently discharged enlisted Veterans and their families in Southern California facing financial crisis achieve long-term financial self-sufficiency through counseling, education and grants to alleviate critical near term obligations.
