Plantar fasciitis is a condition that causes pain and inflammation in a band of tissues that connects the heel bone to the toes. The band of tissue extends under the heel and causes stabbing pain that typically occurs with the first few steps taken in the morning. The pain may abate with usage, but can return after standing or sitting for long periods. The condition is common in athletes, those who are overweight, or wear shoes without adequate support.
Another common injury known as tennis elbow is a form of tendonitis, an overuse injury that can result from multiple types of activities and employment that requires repetitive motions. The tendons and muscles in the forearm become inflamed with pain extending into the elbow joint. Grip strength is compromised and pain becomes worse upon usage.
