Rapid City, SD, Jun 10, 2019 /prREACH/ -- Dr. Barbara Burke has been named the Associate Dean, Doctorate in Strategic Security, in NAU’s Henley-Putnam School of Strategic Security. Henley-Putnam is a school within National American University, with a sole focus on issues of strategic security.

Dr. Burke is a retired U.S. Army Colonel with 30 years of experience in military intelligence, including leadership of human intelligence, counterintelligence, and signals intelligence units. Her expertise also includes intelligence support to emergency response operations and linguist support to the Intelligence Community. During her service, Dr. Burke has worked internationally, including in the Middle East and North Africa. Dr. Burke has held positions including Deputy Director of a joint intelligence directorate, Chief of Strategy and Policy Division, Deputy Director for Operations, Chief of Current Operations, Chief of Planning, and Chief of Intelligence, within various operations centers and headquarters.

Dr. Burke also comes from an extensive academic background, having obtained her Ph.D. and two Master’s degrees, as well as studied at the Defense Language Institute, the U.S. Army War College, the U.S. Joint Staff College, the Joint Military Intelligence Training Center, and the U.S. Army Intelligence Center.

The Henley-Putnam School of Strategic Security welcomes Dr. Burke and her exceptional expertise to their strategic security doctorate program. Dr. Lynn Priddy, National American University Provost and Chief Academic Officer, expressed how the growth of National American University’s strategic security offerings made this move imperative. Dr. Priddy said, “We are pleased to have Dr. Burke assume leadership of the Doctorate in Strategic Security. Dr. Burke’s academic credentials, combined with her impressive professional experience, bring distinction to the Henley-Putnam School of Strategic Security.
