ETC Publishing co-owner, Diane Ronngren, says, “We're really excited to add this new title to our list. This book can really help women who want to get pregnant. It reminds women and men of the traditional symbols, colors, herbs and food that our ancestors used to bring new lives into their families.”
The foods Stellhorn recommends are things like eggs, figs, hazel nuts and honey, 19 in all. She pulls in information from other cultures too. For example, the peach has a long history in China of being associated with beauty, abundance and fertility. The peach pit has medicinal uses in Chinese medicine. But also the peach blossom and fruit are depicted in art to represent marriage, children and long, happy lives.
The book is illustrated and laid out with each section in alphabetical order. Other sections include objects used in different cultures to bring fertility energy, good colors to paint the nursery and a bonus section on an old method of predicting the child's gender that was used back in the 50's with a reputed 83% success rate. The book also includes information about Feng Shui and how Feng Shui works to shift and change energy
